Candler School of Theology requires all students who will work with children, youth, and other vulnerable populations through Contextual Education and ministerial internships to complete Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children child sexual abuse prevention online training.Stewards of Children TrainingThe training is approximately two hours. Once started, you have fifteen days to complete the training. At any point, you may save your progress and log in at a later time within the fifteen-day window to complete remaining modules. Stewards of Children is offered at no cost to you. The training should be completed by January 1 for spring enrollment or by July 12 in order to register for classes in mid-July for fall enrollment. Completion of this training is mandatory to participate in Contextual Education or ministerial internships. Child sexual abuse is a tough topic. The training contains survivor stories, expert advice, and practical guidance for prevention of child sexual abuse. The survivor stories are based on the actual experiences of survivors and may affect you personally. In the resource section of the course you will find a National Resource Sheet with contact information for agencies that can help you. Darkness to Light also offers a helpline (1-866-367-5444), if personal needs and concerns arise for you as a result of the Stewards of Children training.
